This first document is a cartoon by Matson from 2008. We can see three characters, a young man and a little girl sitting on the edge of a yacht on which is written "Belivin' in America". There's also a man standing on an island on which is written "Cayman Islands". This man seems to have digged a hole with his shovel to bury a malet full of money on which is written the name "Romney". We can notice two other islands in the background on which are written "Switzerland" and "Bermuda". The man on the island says "you outsource jobs so you don't have to pay more wages and benefits to your workers... you offshore your profits so you don't have to pay more taxes to your country" and the two children reply "gosh grandpa Mitt you're so smart ! You should be president". In fact the man represented is Mitt Romney who runned for president against Barack Obama in 2012. This cartoon is completely ironic as his grandkids say he should become president for the ideas he expressed a.i offshoring and outsourcing. The irony is that he wants to be president but these concepts are completely against his country as outsourcing provoques joblessness and offshoring's in a way giving less money to the state when you should, I personally think that it's very close to stealing, morover it is rich people who offshore even though it is normal to pay more taxes then poor people. How can a man who steals from his own state become president ? it's paradoxical.
The second cartoon is from the cartoonist Geek and Poke and is titled "Simply explained part 10 : offshoring". It is simple to describe it as it is only a conversation between two characters. The character on the left side is dressed with a shirt and a tie and the one on the right just with a shirt. The man with a tie says "We have to move to the next country. We gave them thousands of jobs but they couldn't get enough. The folks there wanted even more than that", the other asks "and what did they want ?" and he replies "Getting paid", the other says it's unbelievable. This cartoon critisizes the fact that corporation bosses (the man with a tie) think that in poor countries, when they they only have to give underpaid jobs, and they don't care about how their workers lives as long as they make more money, and when the workers ask for a better salary it's "unbelievable" and they often get rejected. The thing is that there is always a country where workers are even cheaper so if the minimum salary rises in one country, the company just has to "move to the next country".
To put it in a nutshell these two cartoons critisize mainly offshoring (and taxe havens) because it's not good for your own country and for the country you move in as people in northern countries lose jobs and poor people in foreign coutries get underpaid.
